1. After you log in to your Salesforce account, from the Navigation Menu, click on Contacts.

If you don’t find Contacts on navigation menu, go to this link- https://jpal.lightning.force.com/lightning/o/Contact/list?filterName=Recent

Else you can go to  App Launcher (9 grey squares on top left below the logo) and scroll below to All Items and you will find Contacts there.

      2. You will see a list of recent contacts after you click on Contacts. Click the “New” button at   the right top. (below Navigation Menu).

     3. Select the desired record type. You can choose “Affiliate”, “Personnel”,  “Priority” and “Standard” record type as per the requirement.

  • Standard is mostly used for contacts that come directly from the website.  It is unlikely that you would choose this type for a new record.

  • Only HR or administration staff should use the Personnel type.

  • Affiliates are only entered by approval from Initiative staff who are tasked with doing this.

  • Everyone else will default to Priority as the record type.

→ Click “Next”.

Depending on your accessibility and profile you may see only few of those record types if not all.

    4. Once you choose the desired record type, you will be redirected to create a new record on Contact record. The Required fields are prefixed with a red * symbol and are mandatory to fill. If you forget to input mandatory fields and try to save the record, system will throw an error.

   5. Click on “Save” after you input the Contact record fields.  Your record is saved and after clicking save, you will be redirected to the record detail page. You can review if the details are correct and if not you can edit the record.

6 (Only if you want to edit the record). On the top right of the record detail page (below Navigation Menu), you see a small drop down button. Click on that button and you will see an option for “Edit”. Make the edits you want. Make sure you click on “save” after editing.

Note: There may be situations when saving a record will throw an error like “Please enter an end date that falls after start date” and/or others. You should fix those errors before you can save the record.
