This an example using a fictional Finance and Operations Manager at J-PAL SEA (but works the same for all regional offices, vertical and positions)
1. SEA_staff@PAL is an autopopulated listserv. No one manages it because it is managed by the entries in the Appointment sections of the contacts in Salesforce for personnel (only HR staff can see these entries). For example: when you were hired - someone in SEA HR added your entry to the Appointments tab on the Related page in SF. On that page, HR will see under Appointment Details, that your Vertical 1 is Administration and Position 1 is Manager. Your J-PAL Office is SEA. Therefore, as soon as you are listed as this (and as long as your appointment is active) - the Staff Email Group 1 field will populate with the correct listserv. In your case - "SEA_Admin_Managers@povertyactionlab.org". Now you are automatically enrolled in this listserv. No one needs to add you or remove you - you will be added and removed based on your employment status (either a current employee or not).
2. There are several email listservs that are composed of other listservs. For example:
- You are a member of SEA_Admin_Managers@PAL
- SEA_Admin_Managers@PAL is a member of SEA_Admin_Staff@PAL
- SEA_Admin_Staff@PAL is a member of SEA_Staff@PAL
- SEA_Staff@PAL is a member of Staff@PAL
Therefore, anyone who is listed as current J-PAL staff AND they are marked correctly in Salesforce, then they should automatically be added to the proper listserv which is a part of many other listservs based on their REGION - VERTICAL - POSITION.
You are always see who is in what list by visiting: https://jpal.lightning.force.com/lightning/o/Email_Group__c/list?filterName=00BA0000008sWu5MAE
* You can filter on part of the name (SEA_admin) in the "Search this list" search box. However, please note that you can only drill-down one level. Therefore, for listservs embedded in other listservs - you will need to go back to this main page and run the search again on the embedded listserv - and keep doing this until you reach the root list with the names of the individuals.
