We sponsor one guest account in each region so that the J-PAL regional office has access to MIT's Journals online. In order for them to access the journals, they need to log on with an MIT guest account.
To create a guest account:
- Get the following information from your guest:
- Guest name (must be their full and legal name). If they have a middle name that can be helpful in case they have a common first/last name
First Name:
Middle Name (optional):
Last Name:
*If you have two first names or two last names (eg: 2 last names - John Smith Arthur), please make sure this is clearly indicated so that we do not assume that Smith is part of the first name or that Smith is a middle name.
- Month of birth; Day of birth (no year needed)
- Guest's alternate email
- Then go to https://ist.mit.edu/accounts/guest
- You will complete the form as the sponsor

Guest accounts are sponsored until the end of the year when they were created. Email communication will be sent out to all sponsored accounts before the account is set to expire, which will allow time to regain sponsorship if needed. Typically accounts deactivate in January if a new sponsor has not been provided by that time. Emails are typically sent out towards the end of the year with more information and instruction on how to renew sponsored accounts.
Dropbox:
The process for MIT faculty, staff and students differs from the process for affiliates. Affiliates can be given access if a faculty or staff member requests it on their behalf. To create an affiliate account, send an email including the request and the affiliate's Kerberos username to accounts@mit.edu. See instructions here: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/display/istcontrib/MIT+Dropbox+Landing+Page
