MIT’s Instructional Continuity website has a section on using Zoom. It includes tips on using Zoom to teach; troubleshooting tips; accessibility suggestions; and Zoom support and tutorials. Other online resources include Zoom’s Getting Started page, the MIT Sloan Guide to Teaching Virtually with Zoom and Canvas!, and the Zoom Landing Page in the Knowledge Base.
IS&T offers 24x7 community support for Zoom. MIT community members who have questions or need assistance using Zoom can contact the IS&T Service Desk.

Getting Started
1. Visit mit.zoom.us and click on sign in to configure your account.
2. Upon Successfully signing you will be prompted to confirm your email address (if verification email does not appear in your @povertyactionlab.org account, check owa.mit.edu account using your keberos username and password.
3. Click on the verification link (Verification email account will say switch to the new account because MIT has changed everyone’s account to an enterprise account.)
4. Upon clicking the link select I Acknowledge and Switch account
5. You will then receive Your account has been switched successfully and will be able to Sign in to Profile Page
6. Upon selecting Sign in to Profile Page you will successfully be logged in.
Assigning someone else to schedule for you
From your user account (login)
Click on the picture at the top right → Then choose Settings → then Scroll down to Schedule Privilege and you will see this “Assign someone to schedule for you”, click on the + and then add the person (must be an @mit.edu email address).
From your Zoom Desktop App:
Click on the picture at the top right → Then choose Settings → then Profile → View Advanced Features --> Scroll down to Schedule Privilege and you will see this “Assign someone to schedule for you”, click on the + and then add the person (must be an @mit.edu email address).
Temporary Unmute
Keep your profile in Mute at all times and then simply hold down the space bar to “unmute” while you are talking, then release the space bar to mute again
Change your background
Zoom allows you to set a different background for your call (you'll need enough graphics power and/or a green screen). Just click the arrow next to "video" in your next zoom call and select "choose virtual background". You can use one of the pre-programmed photos or choose your own, or even create a video. Anja took some photos of the office and shared them with us here:
Settings for playing a video
Open the video on your computer. When you are in Zoom, go to “Share screen” and choose the window with the video. Before you click “Share” in the bottom left you will see the options for “Share computer sound” (this allows participants to hear your computer audio) and “Optimize Screen Share for Video Clip”.
