Auto-forwarding your MIT emails to your @povertyactionlab.org Inbox
Description
Forwarding your MIT email redirects all incoming messages to your @mit.edu Inbox to a different email address of your choosing.
Below are to steps to accomplish forwarding your @mit.edu emails to your @povertyactionlab.org Inbox - automatically.
Go to
You will need to log into the Athena website hosted by MIT, linked here ...
You will notice the page resembles a command prompt or terminal; you will see a blinking cursor indicating that you can input & enter text. Throughout this brief process, you will be inputting your credentials and one mailbox command in the terminal. Inputting, then pressing the "Enter/Return" key each time to send it.
Steps
First input your username (without @mit.edu) - in my case it is " sbergin "
Then input your MIT/Kerberos password. Note that the cursor will continue to blink in place as if nothing is being typed; but your keystrokes are inputting- you will not see dots or stars with each keystroke either.
If you get an incorrect password error, please try again; given the limited visibility of what you are inputting there is a chance the password included a typo.
The next step you will see a prompt for DUO authentication, displaying options 1 - 4.
I recommend selecting 1 for SMS or 2 for a push notification; this will trigger the DUO authentication workflow you are familiar with logging into various MIT authenticated sites and resources.
Once you have authenticated with DUO you will be greeted in the terminal and have an open prompt awaiting your input.
The next step is inputting & sending the following mailbox command...
chpobox -s sbergin@povertyactionlab.org
Once this has been completed, the forwarding rule should become active. Note that this will not apply retroactively to mail currently in your MIT Inbox-- but all subsequent messages sent to your MIT inbox in the future will be redirected to the intended email address (your-name@povertyactionlab.org)
