How to Identify the Current Owner of an Event:

  1. Open Google Calendar: Go to Google Calendar
  2. Click on the Event: Find the event on your calendar and click on it.
  3. Check the Event Details:
    • If you have permission to see the guest list, look for the name marked as Organizer—this is the owner of the event.
    • If you do not see an organizer name, try looking at the event description or contacting someone else on the invite list who might know.

How to Request a Change of Ownership:

  1. Contact the current event owner (Organizer) and ask them to edit the event.
  2. They need to:
    • Open the event in Google Calendar.
    • Click on the "More actions" menu.
    • Select "Change owner".
    • Enter your email and click "Change owner".
  3. You will receive an email to accept ownership.

What If the Owner Left the Organization?

  • If the original owner is no longer available (e.g., left the company), an admin can transfer ownership of their calendar events
  • Alternatively, you can duplicate the event and invite everyone again under your ownership.
